Elsewhere, storage answers a broken chain. Here it most often answers a developer timetable: you have to be out of the rental or the old house on a fixed date, and the new one completes on notice at some point after it.

That is not a failure of anyone's planning. It is simply how new-build purchases work, and a firm that treats it as an emergency has not been paying attention to this town.

So we build it into the plan from the survey: collect on the certain date, list everything, hold it, and deliver when the notice lands.

This versus a self-storage unit

A unit is a room with a key, filled by you, open whenever the building is. It suits anyone needing regular access to what is inside.

Ours is the other trade: the crew loads at your door, the goods stay as loaded, and access is arranged rather than casual. You are spared two handlings and a lot of carrying; you give up wandering in on a Sunday.

For a household waiting on a completion, ours is nearly always right. Where a unit would suit you better, we will say so rather than steer you.

What to keep out

A genuine living kit, and on a new-build wait it needs to be more generous than people expect, because the wait can be longer than anyone predicted. Clothes for this season and the next, work equipment, documents, chargers, medication, and whatever a child will ask for by the second day.

We go through it before loading and write it down. Getting one box back out of a held load is an arrangement; doing it three times is an expensive way to find a coat.

Business stock and records

Stock, records and office furniture during a fit-out or a move between units, on the same listed basis. For records the inventory matters more than the space does — knowing precisely what went and what came back is usually the entire point.
